RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. CONSTITUTION
The Name of the club shall be The Lincoln Sportsman’s Club. It shall be a Private Members Club for Men.
2. OBJECT
The objects of the club shall be entirely charitable, that is to arrange dinners and other sporting and fundraising events for its Members and personally selected guests and to denote the nett proceeds for the encouragement and sponsorship of local sporting activities for individuals of either sex, clubs and groups as the committee shall decide.
3. MANAGEMENT
3.1 The general management and control of the club shall be vested in a committee consisting of elected members all of whom shall be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting.
3.2 The committee at their first meeting each year after the annual general meeting elect one of their number to be chairman, one other vice chairman, one other secretary and one other treasurer. A president shall be elected when the committee considers it to be appropriate to do so.
3.3 The committee shall have power to co-opt members each year to fill positions on the committee in their total discretion.
3.4 The Annual General Meeting shall be held in June of each year, and the financial year shall end on the 31st May of each year.
4. FIRST TIME MEMBERSHIP
4.1 Application for membership shall be on the form prescribed by the Committee from time to time. Every application shall be proposed by a member and seconded by a different member.
4.2 The Application shall be submitted with the annual membership fee.
4.3 All Applications for membership shall come before the Committee for consideration at the first Committee Meeting immediately following the date of receipt of the Application. The Committee of the Club have a complete discretion in relationship to acceptance of Applications for membership. If the Application is refused, no reason need be given by the Committee.
4.4 In considering the Application the Committee shall take into account:-
4.4.1 Whether the Applicant in the Committee’s considered view would make a good member of the Club
4.4.2 Whether the Application complies with the Rules and Regulations of the Club.
4.5 In the event that the Committee requires further information about a particular Applicant, the Committee shall adjourn the decision to the next Committee Meeting and shall take such steps as it sees fit to obtain such required information in the meantime.
5. RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP
5.1 Application for renewal of membership shall be on the form prescribed by the Committee from time to time. An existing member does not require a Proposer or Seconder to apply for Renewal of Membership.
5.2 The Application for renewal of membership shall be submitted with the Annual Membership Fee.
5.3 All Applications for renewal of membership shall come before the Committee for consideration at the first Committee Meeting immediately following the date of receipt of the Application. The Committee of the Club have a complete discretion in relation to acceptance of Applications for renewal of membership. If the Application for renewal of membership is refused, no reason need by given by the Committee.
6. MEMBERSHIP
6.1 Admission to sporting dinners/events is conditional upon payment of the annual membership fee and such other charges as are made from time to time made by the club, and the acceptance by the committee of the applicant as an annual member.
6.2 The annual membership period is from the 1st June to 31st of May of the following year.
6.3 The annual membership fee will be determined by members of the club at each annual general meeting.
6.4 The committee of the club may from time to time limit annually the number of members of the club and where necessary arrange a waiting list for potential members.
7. GUESTS
7.1 Members are entitled to invite personally selected male guests (“guests”) who may be admitted to sporting dinners/events.
7.2 Members will be liable for payments of the fees for each sporting dinner/events in respect of their guests,
7.3 Members will be responsible for the behaviour of any guest invited to a sporting dinner/event.
7.4 The Committee has the right to bar any member or any guest from any number of future sporting dinners/events in their sole discretion and without the need to give reasons.
8. APPLICATION FOR TICKETS
8.1 The Committee of the Club will from time to time, notify members of forthcoming sporting dinners/events and will provide members with an application form.
8.2 The Committee of the Club will fix a maximum number of members and guests for each sporting dinner/event.
8.3 If the number of applications for tickets by members and guests exceed the maximum number fixed for any sporting dinner/event, priority for the allocation of tickets will be given first to members in strict order of receipt of applications.
8.4 All applications for tickets must be accompanied by payment in respect of tickets applied for and must be received by the specified closing date for the respective function.
8.5 If members or their guests who have been allocated tickets for a sporting dinner/event are unable to attend, then the member should notify the club immediately. The club will use its best endeavours to resell the tickets to other members or guests. If the tickets are resold they will have the cost of the tickets refunded to them. If the tickets are not resold, no refund will be made.
8.6 The club reserves the right to change publicised guest speakers.
8.7 Dress at sporting dinners will be Formal: Dinner Suits and Bow Tie. Unless the Chairman of the dinner otherwise directs, jackets may be removed only after the Speaker has addressed the dinner.
9. CLOSURE OF THE CLUB
If the committee decide for whatever reason that the club is not viable it may terminate the club and refund that which is due to the members in respect of all or a proportion of fees paid without any further contractual or other liability to members.
10. AMENDMENTS
The committee reserve the right to alter these rules and regulations from time to time Members will be notified of such amendments as and when they are made and in any event at the next Annual General Meeting..
