What is the
Lincoln Sportsmans Club?
The Lincoln Sportsmans
Club is based in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. The object of the club is entirely
charitable, that is to arrange dinners and other
sporting and fundraising events and to donate the
net proceeds for the encouragement and sponsorship of local sporting activities
for individuals. We are run by a committee which
manages the fundraising, functions, publicity and donations.
We are governed by a set of rules and regulations
which defines booking arrangements for functions/dinners
held and membership arrangements.
The late President Alan Davey
organized the first dinner following a wager with
the then Sports Writer of the Lincolnshire Echo, Maurice Burton. Maurice
reckoned Alan couldnt get together 100
Business/Sportsman in Lincoln for a sporting dinner,
that was a red rag to Alan, so he set about organizing a dinner, speaker etc.
The first dinner was in the Lincoln City Supporters Club at the football
ground squashed in like sardines listening to a young Tommy Docherty.

You can
apply for a donation from the committee as long
as you compete on an individual basis. A general rule is your sport must be
an Olympic discipline. You must live within the Lincoln City
or surrounding area. We are looking in particular for people who have not yet
peaked within their particular sport. You can apply via e-mail to the committee giving an outline of your sporting
achievements and future goals. It would also help if you could supply us with
contact details of your coach/trainer. You can download an application form and fill out all the
relevant details we are looking for in order that you can be accessed for a
Donation from the club. The file is also available in PDF format. Before
applying please have a look at our current list of young people we have
supported and ask yourself if you are of the same credibility.
